The Eagle Has Landed…

…and has brought the Seagull as well. The Year Of The How-To Book, the second full-length album by Nebraska’s own Eagle Seagull, has finally been released this March. Back in early 2008, new songs have been popping up on Last.FM, but it took two more years before the follow-up to 2006’s self-titled debut was released into the wild. Having created quite a buzz in the blogosphere and amongst critics as well over the past few weeks/months, Eagle Seagull really do live up to the hype with their second outing. The Year Of The How-To Book easily manages to walk the narrow tightrope between indie and commercialisation; in short, it should please a lot of music fans around the world. The voice of singer and songwriter Eli Mardock is something you might have to get used to, but the songwriting itself is beautiful and interesting. Here are two songs back from 2008 that have made it onto the new album, and their classic (and still my favourite) tune from the debut:
