Sleep Mountain

It’s about time for some Danish music on this blog again! I’ve recently received a promo-mail about the new album from brilliant Danes The Kissaway Trail. Sleep Mountain will be released on April 6th via Bella Union, and I can assure you that it is worth the wait. If you’re already familiar with the band (maybe through their self-titled 2007 debut-album or the excellent song Smother+Evil=Hurt), you might know what to expect. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you should definitely mark your calendars and put the album on your to-buy list!

Sleep Mountain combines excellent songwriting with euphoric soundscapes that will take the listener on a high-flying journey. This is what it would sound like if Sigur Rós had a party with The Polyphonic Spree and ended up jamming with Mew. Just listen to the superb opener SDP, and you’ll know what I mean. Sleep Mountain spreads so much joie de vivre and creativity that it’s almost impossible to resist. They even manage to turn Neil Young‘s tearjerker Philadelphia into a beatlesque, uplifting beauty. But I won’t tease you any longer now… I’ll just leave you with SDP and that still brilliant video for Smother+Evil=Hurt. And if you need something to kill the time until April 6th, there’s still the debut album to discover! 🙂

btw.: did I mention that I absolutely adore the above artwork? I’m already cleaning out my glass-display case to make room for this beauty!
