It’s Sweden Again

Not only is Morten visiting Sweden today, but I do, too. A few months (or years already???) ago, I’ve downloaded a track by Swedish band Thirdimension. I remember liking The Only Healer, and yesterday, my winamp-shuffle just reminded me of that. So a bit of research followed.

Thirdimension‘s sound is with many influences, but mainly I’d say it’s Classic Rock from the 60s/70s and Brit-Pop. Add a hint of today’s indie-rock, and a spoonful of psychedelic pop, and you’re probably there. In 1998, they released their debut, Protect Us From What We Want, and got rave critics in their homeland. In 2002, the album was also released in the US with Parasol Records, and in 2004, the second album, Permanent Holiday, followed.

So this year, the new album by Thirdimension has just hit the shelves. Before The End Begins is a live-accoustic recording and consists of the band’s older songs, and some interesting covers like Don’t Fear The Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult), Dream All Day (The Pixies) or We’re Not Gonna Take It (Twisted Sister!). The album was recorded in an old church in Malmö.

So here are some of the works of Thirdimension to add to your Scandinavian collection! 🙂
