Promotion For Promotion

It looks like those guys from label Fanatic Promotion are just doing that! Since I’ve subscribed to their newsletter, promotion mails from their bands keep coming in. This might sound like a lot of spam, but Fanatic Promotion is a bit different: they excactly know what bloggers want! There’s a little history of the band, some short reviews, the releases, all the links concerning the band and of course some free MP3s. It just might look like this:

The Basement Play First US Dates, Debut Album Illicit Hugs and Playground Thugs Available Now.

“Their Irish barroom sing-a-long sound is done with impeccable precision” – The Tripwire

“.Ultimately impressive” – No Depression

“.will sail beyond all other pretenders” – NME

“Authentic blues swagger to delight fans.” – Uncut

“A whole record full of that kind of rich, organic rock that so few bands do these days (or at least do well).” – Dagger

With a unique blend of indie-rock, blues, country and Irish barroom folk songs, The Basement have become a household name in their native Northern Ireland. Produced by Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys) Illicit Hugs and Playground Thugs already feels like a living and breathing classic. The US version has been totally re-sequenced and features two early singles not included on the European version.  The Basement will appeal to fans of M Ward (who they recently toured France with), Jenny Lewis, Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket as well as older artists like Son Volt, Ryan Adams or The Old 97’s.

The Basement
launched amid a mass of praise from the UK’s leading music press and are currently in the midst of playing their first US shows. Early singles wetted a feverant appetite and the Irish four piece went into the studio to record their heavily anticipated debut. After literally years in the studio, The Basement officially announced their arrival in July of 2006 the release of Illicit Hugs and Playground Thugs.  Now available in North America via Zealous Records, Americans can now get a taste of what NME predicted “will sail way beyond all other pretenders”.

Not too bad, is it? All us bloggers have to do is put the content in the desired order and post it. Well, of course one needs to listen to the music as well; you don’t want to promote something you don’t like, do you? I had no objection to post this promotion for The Basement, as their sound really is worth listening to.

I guess Fanatic Promotion have already contacted a lot of bloggers, so it might be that you have already heard about them, or at least about some of their bands. And I think that’s not a bad thing. This is a really great way to get your music heard, and it’s a good thing for us next-to-work-bloggers who just don’t always have buckets full of time at our hands to write long postings every day. So expect to find posts like the one above on this blog from time to time. I will of course check the bands out beforehand, so you know what you’re getting… as I mentioned before, the mails from Fanatic keep coming and coming, and not everything is worth being promoted (at least not here! 🙂 ). Well, you’ll see what happens…

If you like to join the Fanatic Promotion yourselves, they have a ton of links you can find right below… in the basement, so to say! 😀
